A trip to Constanța. More than a party destination.

Constanța is famous for its wide beaches and parties in summer times. Sounds like a pretty stupid idea to visit it winter, right? Actually, Constanța has even more to offer than beaches and parties (although I have to admit that these are strong arguments for a visit).

Sinaia and its beautiful contrasts

Sinaia is a town and a mountain based in the Prahova Valley and 2 hours from Bucharest and 10 minutes by train from Busteni. It’s called thus according to the monastery, that are its name because of the Mount Sinaï. A further man named it after his pilgrimage in Egypt.

My first impressions. An attempt.

One of the passengers in my plane had joked: “Dracula country, good luck!”.

So here I am. For one month. I haven’t seen large areas of the city and nearly nothing of the country, but I try to describe my impressions.

After my arrival I’ve driven with Dora (my mentor) to our apartement at the other end of the city. I’ve been very confused that there hasn’t been a belt. Hence I have been (a little bit) scared, actually I had heard about the (let’s call it) self-confident driving style in Bucharest. But Dora was totally righ: “It’s safe”. Especially during the rush hour. We’ve been standing most of the about one hour enduring travel to our apartement. After two weeks I’m not sure how I should comment the drivers here. I had expected much more worse. Otherwise that’s no excuse. In my opinion you can manage the situation if you accept the fact that there’s no right to cross the street. It’s more a nice offer sometimes made by drivers. Furthermore I feel that I behave more and more like a Romanian. In these days I cross the street at random places and the traffic lights lose their importance (nobody really cares about it).
